The St Margaret's Professional Women's Network is a quarterly breakfast function for community members to share, support and be inspired. Our guest speaker for the first event of 2017 is an extraordinary St Margaret’s Old Girl, Penelope Twemlow ('00), who has achieved outstanding business and community results in predominantly male-dominated industries.

Penelope Twemlow ('00) is the CEO Energy Skills Queensland, working in the mining, gas, electrotechnology and telecommunications industries. She is also the Founder and Chair of Women in Power, whose mission is to promote and improve the electrical and electrotechnology industry by the advancement of women within it, as well as the Chair of the Electrical Safety Education Committee and a member of the National Association of Women in Construction. Penelope is a true leader of people and operations and has been recognised as an innovator with unsurpassed drive and passion. She continues to receive accolades for her vision and entrepreneurship, and was also a finalist in the 2016 Lord Mayor’s Business Awards, the Australian Institute of Management Leadership Awards, the Brisbane Women in Business Awards and the Australian Centre for Leadership for Women Diversity Awards.

In her career, Penelope provided 10.5 years service in the Royal Australian Navy as a Warfare Officer and Military Police Investigator and also ran her own corporate consultancy, providing services to national and international clients. Her stamina, resilience and wicked sense of humour have carried her through extraordinary challenges, including the ability to reverse parallel park a 8,500 tonne armed warship.
